How to become a member?
Start by visiting our club! Be our guest!
The members of Gopher Toastmasters invite you to visit us. Guests are welcome at every meeting. And, you can visit as many times as you like. There's no cost to you but time and the benefits of your visit will far outweigh that small investment.
You can visit unannounced or -- if you're a bit shy -- contact our Membership VP before your visit and you'll be greeted at the door and introduced to the members. You can also bring a friend or more for moral support. But, it's really not necessary. You'll find our group to be extremely friendly.
Then, Apply for Membership
After you have visited our club at least twice you can apply to become a member. When you submit your application with the intial dues and fees the short induction process will begin.
But, Don't Join Just Any Club!
Having said that, we encourage you to visit more than one club. There are dozens of them throughout the Twin Cities. You can locate other clubs by visiting the Toastmaster International web site, calling their voicemail information line at (800) 993-7732 (from North America), speak to a live operator by calling (949) 858-8255 (weekdays between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, PT), or visit the District 6 web site.
Visiting other clubs will help you decide which Toastmaster club really fits your needs. For example, if you travel often you may wish to join a club that meets more frequently. Or, maybe Tuesdays or Saturday mornings are a better fit with your schedule. After you’ve visited a few clubs, do join Toastmasters to start improving your speaking skills. You’ll be glad you did.
We hope the club you join is Gopher Toastmasters. Meeting dates, times, location and a map are all available here.
What does it cost?
Dollar for dollar, it's probably the best value in self-improvement.
Joining a Toastmasters club is a high value investment in your personal development as a speaker and leader.
One-day seminars can cost $200, $300, $400 or more. You'll spend a lot less than that in a year with most Toastmasters clubs.
Here's what you can expect to spend...and what you'll get for the investment
- There's a $20 new member fee that covers the cost of your new member package.
- Toastmaster International dues are paid twice a year -- April and October. Each dues payment is $27 totaling $54 per year. Your semi-annual dues cover the costs of things like the award winning Toastmaster magazine -- delivered monthly -- and administration expenses at the International, Regional, and District level.
- In addition to the Toastmaster International dues, Gopher Toastmasters dues are collected semi-annually. The semi-annual club dues are $6 and cover the costs of club supplies.
